“I changed the bass for the camera”, says Marilina Giménez, who until 2013 played in the Argentinian electro pop band Yilet. Like many female musicians, she was constantly confronted with a male-dominated, often sexist, music industry.

Giménez moves through Buenos Aires filming female artists attracting sell-out crowds with punk rock, reggaeton, pop or electronic music. She films them behind the scenes and in full glory on stage and listens to their experiences. As diverse as they are, their stories of the sexism and inequality they face are equally painful. And all of them carry an unwavering will to crush the patriarchy that stands in their way.

Screening films made by female directors since 2006
